Wes Clark tonight stood by his statement that 'flying a fighter plane and being shot down is not a qualification to be president.'
Both Obama and the media have rejected his words...which in context are completely true.
I feel torn. I understand Obama's imperative and pragmatism, yet coupled with his sort of lackluster speech about patriotism/in response to the statement, I wish he hadn't completely left Wes Clark in the cold.

Wow, that speech was....disappointing.
I, too, feel really unhappy with the way that Obama and the media have reacted to this. Everything that Clark said was completely legitimate and should be talked about; it certainly shouldn't be dismissed jsut because it's a difficult subject to broach. The Ds seem genuinely afraid of how the public would react, which I can understand, but it's sad nonetheless.
Compare with the reaction to McCain's aide who said that a terrorist attack would be good for McCain - it's true, but there's no comparison between that statement and what Clark said; McCain's aide was being incredibly cynical, not to mention that the inherent problem with the impetus behind that statement - Rs being better at national security than Ds - is precisely the reason why Clark's comments should be seriously considered.
It's frustrating as hell.
